Movie of the Week: Adventureland

Jesse Eisenberg and Michael Cera should be cast in a movie together as the Socially Awkward brothers. They both play the same type of character – guy in his between the ages of 16-25 who doesn’t know how to talk to women and every time they try to (until the end of the movie when they get the girl) you wish they stopped talking 10 seconds sooner than they actually did. They play the role well (although Cera has been horribly typecast and hopefully Youth In Revolt and Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World can change that) but if they ever were in a movie together, I would probably close my eyes half the time.
Oh yeah, the movie. It was good. It wasn’t as hysterically funny as the trailer would have you believe but it was one of those awkwardly funny/sweet summer = lessons in life & love movies.
I wish Martin Starr would get cast in more movies. He’s underrated comic genius.
I agree with about Cera and Eisneberg 100%. As for Martin Starr, you gotta check him out on this new show called “Party Down”, on the Starz network. A lot of great people on there like Ken Marino and Jane Lynch. It’s hilarious.
