Jason Reitman is three for three in my book as I’ve found all his movies highly entertaining.
I loved everything about this movie – George Clooney, Vera Farmiga (the post-baby weight looked good on her), Jason Bateman – except Anna Kendrick. Sometimes she was fine but some scenes that called for to be serious emotional (as opposed to laugh-at-how-emotional-I-am-being secens which she was fine at), she didn’t sell it and overacted a little bit. Not to say I hated her in the movie, I just didn’t love her all the time.
I thought the decision that Reitman made to use real people who had gotten laid off to play the employees getting laid off by Ryan (Clooney) and Natalie (Kendrick) was a great choice except that it made those same scenes with recognizable actors seem inauthentic.
So two small quibbles but the movie was great and I can’t wait to own it.
