I wish I could say that there was something awesome about this episode but it was essentially a waste of an hour. An hour Jack Bauer spent in a car. This is Jack Bauer, not Chuck Bartowski.
I actually dozed off in the middle of the episode.
If you haven’t seen it, let me sum it up for you. Renee is a loose cannon but she’s there only hope.

You forgot a crucial part of the episode from your one sentence recap. President Hassan is apparently a loose cannon whose violent tendencies may undo the peace process, but in the end he’s their only hope. Same pattern just with diplomacy instead of sawing off thumbs.
