There’s not much to say about this movie. It was okay. Better than I was expecting but not good enough to feel like “I’m glad I saw it.”
The jokes and plot were cheap and lazy for the most part and the only thing that made it work were the performances of Tina Fey and Steve Carrell. They were practically willing humor out of the material. I think the problem with Tina Fey (Carrell is too far gone) is that we’re accustomed to her working with smart material on 30 Rock and her stint on Saturday Night Live so, when you see her in roles like this and Baby Mama, it feels like she’s dumbing down. Hey, everybody needs to afford a pool somehow.
P.S.: Common, stop acting. Please. You’re a talented rapper but the acting thing isn’t for everyone.
I saw it last night and actually liked it. Yes, it was a little corny, but fun nonetheless. I laughed out loud and didn’t take it very seriously.
