Don’t Call Me During…: Fall 2010 Edition

This is going to be a strange TV season for me.  No Lost for me to analyze.  No 24 or Jack Bauer for me to cheer.  Not even a Heroes for me to mock from afar.  There are few shows I truly love now so feel free to call me during these shows.  I may actually pick up.

Usually, I break this down in terms of what I’ll be watching live and DVRing then making a separate list for what I’ll be watching via other means (OnDemand, Hulu, other unsavory means).  For your benefit, I’ll list everything I plan to watch by their airdate and time.  Just know that, somehow, I’ll be watching all these shows at least once. Don’t Call Me During…: Midseason 2010 Edition

This is going to be a mess. With a bunch of shows doing delayed returns (not coming back until March/April), it’s hard to discern what I’m going to be able to watch live and what I’ll be watching via the internet.  So I’m just going to list them all with their return date. Just know that some how, some way I will try to watch all these shows.

Sunday:

8:00 – 8:30 PM: The Simpsons (1/3): What will it take for me to stop watching this show.
8:00 – 9:00 PM: The Pacific (3/14): I own Band of Brothers and still haven’t watched it.  That’s a damn shame
9:00 – 9:30 PM: Family Guy (1/3)
9:30 – 10:00 PM: Sons of Tuscon (3/14): The only reason I’m giving this a chance is because it stars Tyler Labine, the main reason I watched Reaper
9:00 – 10:00 PM: Big Love (1/10)
10:00-11:00 PM: Breaking Bad (3/21)

Monday:

8:00 – 8:30 PM: How I Met Your Mother (1/11)
8:00 – 9:00 PM: Life Unexpected (1/11): It’s supposed to be good
8:00 – 9:00 PM: House (1/11)
8:00 – 9:00 PM: Chuck (1/10 premiere, regularly airs on Monday)
9:00 – 10:00 PM: Gossip Girl (3/8)
9:00 – 10:00 PM: 24 (1/17 premiere, regularly airs on Monday)
9:00 – 10:00 PM: Parenthood (3/1): It sucks that Maura Tierney had to drop out but Lauren Graham as a replacement is great
9:30 – 10:00 PM: The Big Bang Theory (1/11)
10:00 – 11:00 PM: Castle (1/11)
10:00 – 11:00 PM: Damages (1/25)
10:00 – 11:00 PM: Greek (1/25)

12. Modern Family

11. Curb Your Enthusiasm

10. Breaking Bad

TV Power Rankings: 12/6 – 12/12

Sorry this is so late (all three of you who care).  I was in England this weekend visiting my pseudo-godson, Troy. He’s better than TV.

I’m not doing Worst Show of the Week anymore because usually when I watch something bad, I push it right out of my head and it’s hard to recall later.  But if you really want to know, odds are the worst thing I watched every week is going to be Saturday Night Live.

The Power Rankings: (may contain mild spoilers)

10. Better Off Ted (Episode: “Love Blurts”) – Not the best BOT episode but I’m just happy it’s back.

9. The Big Bang Theory (Episode: “The Gorilla Experiment”) – Sheldon trying to teach Penny basic physics? Why wasn’t this funnier?

8. Gossip Girl (Episode: “The Debarted”) – I had to steal this from NY Magazine’s weekly Daily Intel recap: “Serena walks out of the country house with her baggage and no car in sight, just planning to “find a cab” in the middle of bumfuck Nassau County. God, she’s amazing.”

TV Power Rankings: 11/29 – 12/05

Worst of the Week: The Office (Episode: “Scott’s Tots”) – Now this was a perfectly good episode in the vein of many of the comically tragic episodes in the series’ run but this was just a painful viewing experience. I would rather watch someone get a fingernail pulled out, then see how this played out. It made me think about this blog piece I read.

The Power Rankings: (may contain mild spoilers)

10. Gossip Girl (Episode: “Treasure Of Serena Madre”) – This is the closest Gossip Girl has been to greatness that was season one.

9. Dollhouse (Episode: “The Public Eye”) – I did NOT see the twist with Senator Perrin coming.  I should have known that his wife being a doll was too simple.

8. Jersey Shore (Episode: “The Tanned Triangle”) – The first reality series to ever make it on the Power Rankings.  Snooki? The Situation? This show is tragically amazing.

TV Power Rankings: 11/22 – 11/28

Since Thanksgiving knocked out the nine (!) shows I watch on Thursdays, this week’s list will have shows that will probably never make it back.

Worst Show of Last Week: V (Episode: “It’s Only The Beginning”) – It’s sad that I’ve actually missed 90210. I hope they Scott Peters, the new showrunner, turns it around in March

The Power Rankings: (may contain mild spoilers)

10. Ugly Betty (Episode: “Level (7) With Me”) – I’m glad we are done with the Community of the Phoenix AND the Nico fake blackmailing storylines.

9. Californication (Episode: “Mr. Bad Example”) – Probably the most boring episode of the season but Hank Moody is always good for one or two good laughs

8. How I Met Your Mother (Episode: “Slapsgiving 2: Revenge Of The Slap”) – Not as good as the first Slapsgiving but how can I be mad at an episode that has Chris Elliot and Alyson Hannigan revisiting her days as Evil Willow
