Don’t Call Me During…: Midseason 2010 Edition
January 1, 2010This is going to be a mess. With a bunch of shows doing delayed returns (not coming back until March/April), it’s hard to discern what I’m going to be able to watch live and what I’ll be watching via the internet. So I’m just going to list them all with their return date. Just know that some how, some way I will try to watch all these shows.
Sunday:
8:00 – 8:30 PM: The Simpsons (1/3): What will it take for me to stop watching this show.
8:00 – 9:00 PM: The Pacific (3/14): I own Band of Brothers and still haven’t watched it. That’s a damn shame
9:00 – 9:30 PM: Family Guy (1/3)
9:30 – 10:00 PM: Sons of Tuscon (3/14): The only reason I’m giving this a chance is because it stars Tyler Labine, the main reason I watched Reaper
9:00 – 10:00 PM: Big Love (1/10)
10:00-11:00 PM: Breaking Bad (3/21)
Monday:
8:00 – 8:30 PM: How I Met Your Mother (1/11)
8:00 – 9:00 PM: Life Unexpected (1/11): It’s supposed to be good
8:00 – 9:00 PM: House (1/11)
8:00 – 9:00 PM: Chuck (1/10 premiere, regularly airs on Monday)
9:00 – 10:00 PM: Gossip Girl (3/8)
9:00 – 10:00 PM: 24 (1/17 premiere, regularly airs on Monday)
9:00 – 10:00 PM: Parenthood (3/1): It sucks that Maura Tierney had to drop out but Lauren Graham as a replacement is great
9:30 – 10:00 PM: The Big Bang Theory (1/11)
10:00 – 11:00 PM: Castle (1/11)
10:00 – 11:00 PM: Damages (1/25)
10:00 – 11:00 PM: Greek (1/25)

TV Power Rankings: 11/29 – 12/05
December 7, 2009Worst of the Week: The Office (Episode: “Scott’s Tots”) – Now this was a perfectly good episode in the vein of many of the comically tragic episodes in the series’ run but this was just a painful viewing experience. I would rather watch someone get a fingernail pulled out, then see how this played out. It made me think about this blog piece I read.
The Power Rankings: (may contain mild spoilers)
10. Gossip Girl (Episode: “Treasure Of Serena Madre”) – This is the closest Gossip Girl has been to greatness that was season one.
9. Dollhouse (Episode: “The Public Eye”) – I did NOT see the twist with Senator Perrin coming. I should have known that his wife being a doll was too simple.
8. Jersey Shore (Episode: “The Tanned Triangle”) – The first reality series to ever make it on the Power Rankings. Snooki? The Situation? This show is tragically amazing.

My 50 Favorite Television Shows of the 00s
November 30, 2009Now, let me just say off the bat that I do not believe these are the 50 best shows of this decade (although some certainly are). These are just the 50 television shows that brought me the most entertainment, the ones that I am most fond of when I think back on the decade. I contemplated doing this in order of love/respect but then this post would never get done so I’ll do a Top 10.
I decided to leave off The Simpsons and South Park because they’ve been on for so long (and I needed any excuse to make room for other shows) but they both had great episodes in the 00’s and if I didn’t need the room, they’d make the cut.
I tried to stick with shows that had at least two full seasons under its belt unless the show had been canceled like Freaks and Geeks.
And, no, I’ve never watched The West Wing or ER and that’s why they aren’t on the list.

TV Power Rankings: 11/08 – 11/14
November 16, 2009Worst Show of Last Week: Saturday Night Live (Host: Taylor Swift) – Aside from her monologue song which was cute, this was another terrible episode. Are they even trying anymore?
The Power Rankings: (may contain mild spoilers)
10. South Park (Episode: “Dances With Smurfs”) – I’m afraid they may have ruined Avatar for me.
9. 30 Rock (Episode: “The Problem Solvers”) – It’s still not great but it’s been getting better. I’m a sucker for any mocking of Canada
8. The Office (Episode: “Murder”) – I’m glad Ed Helms is getting a bigger role this season.

TV Power Rankings: 10/25 – 10/31
November 3, 2009So I decided to give myself a new project. I’m going to try to rank the top 10 shows I watched on a week by week basis. Since I usually don’t finish watching a given week’s shows until Sunday, this will probably run late. (I watch over 25 hours of TV a week).
Worst Show of Last Week: Cougar Town (Episode: “A Woman in Love (It’s Not Me)”) – The scary thought is that before I remembered I watched Cougar Town (which will probably always be the worst show I watch every week), I was going to say 30 Rock.

Don’t Call Me During…: Fall 2009-10 Edition
August 25, 2009This was easily the hardest TV schedule I’ve ever had to put together. I actually thought I was going to be watching less television than ever but then I got to Thursday. Thank God for Hulu and bittorrent, otherwise I don’t know what I’d do*.
First let’s say goodbye to the shows that won’t be returning from the last schedule: Read the rest of this entry ?
