Don’t Call Me During…: Fall 2012 – Thursdays

8:00 pm: Last Resort (ABC, 9/27)
Shawn Ryan (The Shield) on network TV?  I’m in. Having Andre Braugher doesn’t hurt either.  It’s a shame that this probably won’t last past the first season in this absolutely brutal timeslot.

8:00 pm: The Big Bang Theory (CBS; 9/27)
It’s not as funny as it used to be (too much Jim Parsons but an Emmy will do that) but last season’s emphasis on the three female characters as a separate group – Penny (Kaley Cuoco), Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) and Amy (Mayim Balik) – gave the show new life.

8:00 pm: 30 Rock (NBC, 10/4)
It sucks that after it’s best season in years, 30 Rock is coming to an end.  I guess it’s better to go out still making viewers laugh than wishing that some executive would put it out of its misery.

8:30 pm: Up All Night (NBC; 9/20)
This show isn’t as funny as I wish it was but Christina Applegate and Will Arnett make me keep watching on the hope that they’ll turn it around.

9:00 pm: Grey’s Anatomy (ABC; 9/27)
I watch this show out of habit and the quiet hope that Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) will die a horrible yet embarrassing death.

9:00 pm: Person of Interest (CBS; 9/27)
I watched this show off and on.  I eventually stopped because of my distaste for procedurals even one with a crazy concept like this.  But I watched the season finale and am intrigued to see where the show will go from here.  If everything is righted by the end of the season premiere (as is usually the case in procedurals), then I’m out again.

9:30 pm: Parks and Recreation (NBC; 9/20)
The best comedy on TV is back! It’s sad that every year we have to worry that P&R will get cancelled.  What can we do to get more people watching this show?  Can Hilary Clinton do a five episode arc as Leslie Knope’s (Amy Poehler) imaginary friend?

10:00 pm: Scandal (ABC; 9/27)
This show would be so much better if Shondra Rhimes didn’t feel the need to have Kerry Washington (Olivia Pope) read paragraphs of dialogue in double time over and over again.

10:00 pm: It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FX; 10/11)
I don’t know about you but I’m going to miss Fat Mac.  What is it going to take for Charlie Day (Charlie Kelly) to get an Emmy nomination?  I’d settle for a Golden Globe.

10:30 pm: The League (FX; 10/11)
I think the NFL player cameos are hurting the show.  They are struggling to keep the same energy and humor as this show gains in popularity.
